At Home of Hope, we provide opportunities for people with disabilities to create their own paths, to make their houses into homes,
to find meaning and reward in their own jobs, to develop friendships, and to enjoy activities in the community.
These opportunities are a very specialized doorway to the lives that many individuals would never be able to enjoy otherwise.
Doing enough for people but never too much. Being supportive but never controlling. Being kind but never patronizing.
These are daily decisions and actions that make Home of Hope the place that it strives to be, and hopefully,
on our best days, the place that each of the people we serve truly deserve to call home.
In the decades since parents and advocates first organized to establish Home of Hope, Rogers County Training Center, and Delaware County Friendship Homes, these civil rights pioneers have helped secure equal opportunities, dignity, and inclusion for people with developmental disabilities in Northeast Oklahoma. Thousands of individuals and families have benefited from their shared commitment to ensuring full participation in community life—a cornerstone of the disability rights movement.
Today, as these three organizations unite to share knowledge and resources, we serve more than 230 adults with intellectual disabilities across eight counties: Craig, Creek, Delaware, Mayes, Nowata, Ottawa, Rogers and, Tulsa. Guided by a strategic plan to expand services based on need, we continue to advance the promise of equal opportunity and self-determination for every person we serve.
Each service we provide is grounded in the belief that people with disabilities have the right to live, work, and thrive in inclusive and supportive environments. Our residential programs uphold the right to live independently with dignity—offering multiple levels of support in group homes and private residences. Caring staff work alongside individuals to achieve personal goals, build skills, and strengthen their voice in their own lives.
Our vocational services protect and advance the fundamental civil right to opportunity for meaningful employment. By matching jobs to each person’s abilities, skills, and interests, we open doors to independence, purpose, and financial equity. These roles range from community-based employment and small business operations to recycling, thrift store management, and supported work placements, all designed to affirm the value of every worker.
We also promote full inclusion in recreation and public life—fundamental elements of civil participation. From Special Olympics and equestrian programs to community events, fitness activities, and cultural outings, every opportunity reinforces equality, empowerment, and joy. We are proud that our Fighting Peacocks unified softball team holds the USA Games gold medal and that our athletes lead one of the largest delegations at the Oklahoma Summer Games. We are also proud that our state champion Honey Badgers cheerleading team will be representing the State of Oklahoma at the upcoming U.S.A. Olympic Games.
Together, we continue the legacy of the families and advocates who fought to ensure that people with disabilities are seen as equal citizens—each deserving of the rights, respect, and opportunities that define a just society.
